The benefits of blogging
-
If your wondering why I’ve inserted this image here its’ too remind you that if you ever get a bit cheesed off with any of this then you should stop and…
“Think of the money”
Ok now? Then let’s go.
We are all now pretty much up-to-speed.
By that I mean that everyone who has been working with me now has their website set up and configured and almost all of you have added your introduction to the front page of your site as well as adding your “About US” details. Most of you have also successfully added your first images to those pages.
So, it’s now time to get to the most important part of all this…
Daily Posting.
Some of you will have seen the remarkable initial success that Catrina Hughes’s website, www.croatiaholidaysonline.co.uk has had.
It’s currently at number 1 in Google.co.uk for the search term “croatia holidays online”.
Here’s a screengrab showing you how well it’s done.
Now we shouldnt’ get too excited because not that many people will search on Google for the words “croatia holidays online” but it does show that in almost record time Google has indexed Catrina’s site. Something that can often take up to 6 – 8 months with an “ordinary” website.
Catrina can now take advantage of her early success by starting to post daily articles/posts on to her website and hopefully over time she will begin to reach the first page of Google for the main search terms that people use to find Croatia holidays. The terms that will lead to bookings for Catrina.
Over the last few weeks most have you have felt a little “challenged” by having to set up your website. But I felt it was essential that you were physically involved in setting your site up as doing so leads to a feeling of “ownership” of your site and also teaches you the basic practical skills you will need if you ever decide to create another website yourself.
The good things is that really the “worst is over”. Almost everything else we will be doing is pretty straightforward and as you will be doing these things on a daily basis they will become second nature.
One or two of you have felt really overwhelmed over these initial weeks but you should look back at when you first did your Tarsc training. Didnt’ that seem a bit daunting? Now you all use Tarsc and your PC without even thinking.
Well, this is going to be the same.
Daily Postings:
The “trick” with creating a website in this manner is to build a large “specialist” website that contains tons of really useful information for your visitor.
In other words, if you are creating a Croatia website, just as Catrina is doing, you need to evetually have a site that is bursting with information that will help the potential holiday maker to Croatia.
It should contain information about:
- Croatia itself
- Why you should go there
- Where the best places to stay are
- Details of the best hotels
- Where to eat out
- What you can do in Croatia
- What the people are like
- Any special excursions
- What festivals they may have and when
- What the cost of living is like
- The best way to get there
- The best operators to Croatia
- Your own experiences of holidaying in Croatia
- The “insider” knowledge about travelling to Croatia
- Etc, etc, etc.
You can see from the those suggestions that if you are a real Croatia specialist, with a deep knowledge of the country, that you could create hundreds of posts out of those topics.
When you create a post and publish it on your website it creates an actual “page”. Each post becomes a page of it’s own.
So if you create a post every day for a month then you are in effect adding between 28 and 31 new pages of content a month. If you take the trouble to create 2 posts per day, (and personally I would do so for the first month or so) then you are in effect creating a website with between 56 and 62 pages of content. Not many websites grow to that size and the ones that do are usually looked upon very favourably by Google and the other search engines.
My own website, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/blog now has hundreds of pages which is why it does so well with Google. However, if you follow my methods you will be building a website of similar size and hopefully you will have similar success.
But I think your brain might be hurting by now so we’ll finish here.
Tomorrow I’ll be telling you all about what makes a “good” post and how to do it. I’ll also be “showing” you how to do it with a short video and then we’ll start “posting” in earnest.
In the meantime why not visit my website/blog and see what I post about? It will definitely give you hope!!
But dont’ freak out. I’ve been doing it for 18 months, bit by bit. It shouldnt’ take you anything like 18 months to do the same thing because I made every mistake in the book. Hopefully with me telling you what worked for me you’ll be able to do the same much more quickly.
