One of the best ways to be found for other keyphrases than your main keyphrase is to create new pages for each new keyphrase.

In other words if you had a Madeira Holidays website then your main keyphrase would be “madeira holidays”. But not all of your potential clients will search for “madeira holidays”. Some will search for actual hotel names such as “Savoy Hotel, Madeira”. If you had a dedicated page on your website called “The Savoy Hotel Madeira” and it was full of content, photos and video about the hotel then there is a good chance that Google will put forward your page in their search results.

So if you have a dedicated Madeira Holidays website and you can create a separate page for each hotel on Madeira then you would be greatly increasing your chances of being found in the search engines.

Please take a look at this video that shows you how easy it is to create new pages then sit and think which of the main hotels you sell for your chosen area of expertise and then create a seperate page for each of them. You’ll be surprised how much difference this can help in getting more targetted traffic to your site.

As I have said before, the “magic sauce” in getting your website onto the front page of Google is to have as many back-links as possible from other websites pointing back to your site.

The ultimate back-link uses your “key phrase” as the link back to your site. In other words if you can get a link that uses your key phrase as the “hyperlink” then Google gives you even more weight.

You need to try and do this as regularly as possible as it really will make such a difference.

However, it doesn’t’ need to be a chore and you don’t’ have to have a link back from a travel site. Let me show you what I do.

I’m interested in loads of things including lots of things to do with music. I have just bought a new ukulele (don’t’ laugh) and I search about for things to do with ukuleles. I have a Google Alert set up and whenever I spot something interesting in the Alert I’ll click on it and visit the site to learn more.

Often it’s a site that is also a blog and will, of course, accept comments.

The other day I saw an Alert about a post on a blog called the “Ukulele Guy” and the post was about this guy using the Flip Video camera to video himself playing the ukulele.

Well, some of you may know Barbara and I are off to Egypt to gather together a lot more video, photographs and audio for our Nile Cruise website and I’ll be taking a Flip Video camera. So when I saw the post on the Ukulele Guy’s website it really caught me eye.

______________________________________________________________________

_________________________________________________________________________

So I visited the site, read the post he’d created then clicked on comments and asked him a question. It then asked me for my name and if I had a website. So I signed my name as Nile Cruises (my keyphrase) and of course added our website address. I then posted my question/comment.

_________________________________________________________________________

____________________________________________________________________________

It was published almost immediately and I received a reply from the Ukelele Guy which I then answered with another post/question.

The great thing is that I’ve created a two back-links to my site, using the key-phrase that I want to be found for. And I did it easily, naturally and it was not a chore. The Google spiders will have been all over that site as it’s a blog and they love blogs and they will have followed the link (Nile Cruises) back to my site. They will have then registered another back-link to our site.

It’s really quite easy and something you can include in your daily routine. You will all have different interests aside from travel so why don’t’ you do what I do?

Now that you are registered as Twitter users you might want to have a look at this idea that might help you gain new business.

Travelodge have an account on Twitter, just as you have. Theirs is called www.twitter.com/travelodgeuk

Yours is probably www.twitter.com/yourkeyphrase

Travelodge have 1,973 “followers”. A “follower” is someone who has registered as a follower by clicking on the “FOLLOW” button on Travelodge’s Twitter page (below).

Travelodge use their Twitter account to let their “followers” know about any special offers they have or about anything else that they want to publicise about themselves.

Take a look at their current Twitter page:-

(Click on the thumbnail to enlarge the graphic)

So what’s to stop you doing exactly the same with your Twitter account?

Nothing.

When I asked you to create a Twitter account it was for purposes of creating backlinks. The way I have your sites setup means that every time you create a post on your site it is automatically posted on your Twitter page.

At the same time as it posted on your Twitter page the post that is created on Twitter creates a “backlink” to your main website, which is what we were after – “backlinks”. This is all done automatically so in theory you dont’ have to go to your Twitter account at all because every time you create a post on your main website it automatically goes to your Twitter account.

But whats’ to stop you creating posts directly to your Twitter account and doing the same thing as Travelodge are doing?

If you take a look at the two videos below you’ll see that I’ve explained how to do things in a step-by-step format to make things easy.

Please watch the videos and if you have any queries at all please call me and I’ll help you but please try it and see what results you get over time. Either way you cant’ lose as you’ll be getting extra backlinks to your site and you will be promoting your offers and posts too.

Now that you have created your Twitter account and we have added the Twitter screen/widget to your website, (if you havent added it yet then please read the post here) I thought it would be a good idea to look at the various ways you can use Twitter to benefit your website and your business.

As you know the reason we created a Twitter account (in the name of your chose area of expertise) is because we can add a special widget to your website so that whenever you create a new post on your site it automatically gets published on your Twitter account. When it gets published on your Twitter account then the details of your new post that appears on Twitter will create a “backlink” to your website. The special Twitter widget that we use also installs a little screen on your website so that when your new post details show on Twitter it also shows on the little Twitter screen on your website. That way any “visitors” to your website can subscribe to your Twitter account too.

That’s the main reason we use Twitter. To create backlinks.

Now we are not sure how effective these links are as the jury is still out, however, it is absolutely worth doing as once this process is set up it is all automatic.

But there are a lot of other things you can do with Twitter which I think you might consider.

Essentially Twitter is a “micro-blog”. It’s almost like your own website/blog that you are now using on a daily basis except Twitter limits your posts to a maximum of 145 characters.

Twitter is probably the most talked about social networking platform in the world at the moment and most people just use Twitter to let friends know what they are doing or thing, a little like Facebook.

But if you are in business you can use Twitter to keep your customers and potential customers up-to-date with your offers and other information you would like them to know more about.

When you create a Twitter account you have the ability to create a posts on a regular basis. Essentially as often as you like. Even many times a day if you feel inclined. You simply log on to your Twitter account and post a 145 character post.

So what benefit is this to you?

Well, if you have a last minute offer or great deal that you want to publicise then you can create a post on your blog, or, more immediately you can create a Twitter post with the basic details. That post will be seen by any of your followers and, because of the widget that we are using, it will automatically pop up on your Twitter screen on your website. It’s almost a complete circle.

Now you might be asking, “where are my followers?”, or, “how do I get any?”.

You get followers by simply using Twitter. You will be amazed how by simply adding regular posts (or Tweets) to your Twitter account you will be “found” by interested individuals. Plus, as you have a Twitter screen showing on your website then any visitors to your site are invited to subscribe to your Twitter postings by a little message at the bottom of that screen.

It’s like everything else on the web, once you start using these tools then people come. Look at Clarissa’s site being used on a web-based Internet news site. If she hadnt’ bothered to create the post it wouldnt’ have appeared.

The whole idea of all of these strategies is that they all help build your website’s presence. You will be amazed at where you posts or website gets mentioned or used. You’ll also be amazed at how your potential clients will find you. That’s why using Twitter is a very positive move.

So, you are creating your Twitter posts, you are gaining “followers”…what else can you use Twitter for?

Well, just as interested people follow your “Tweets” you can also follow other people.

I use Twitter as an absolutely amazing source of knowledge. In fact that’s how I find out about a lot of the things that we have used to help build and promote our websites. By accessing the knowledge and expertise of others.

Whenever I find an interesting individual or a website/blog that I like I look for the Twitter subscribe button if they have one. That way I can ensure I dont’ miss any new post that they might publish.

To ensure that I dont’ miss these new posts and to organise my Twitter subscriptions I use a free reader called “TweetDeck”. (You can download it here).

You can download and automatically install TweetDeck and then use it to organise your Twitter subscriptions, (those people you are following) and to ensure that you dont’ miss a new Tweet from one of the people or websites you are following.

I’ve added a short video at the end of this post that I found on YouTube about setting up and using Tweetdeck but you can also visit the www.tweetdeck.com/beta website where you will find a lot of information about setting up and using TweetDeck.

How do I use it to help me and my business?

Well I can do a “search” on Tweetdeck to find any Tweets about my chosen areas of expertise, (Nile Cruises, etc) and then I wont’ miss anything interesting that comes up.

I can also “follow” my favourite individuals and their blog postings. That’s how I can stay up-to-date with developments in technology, blogging. I can also “follow” blogs and posts about my favourite interests, travel, guitar playing, music, etc, etc.

I would really recommend that you start to use Twitter to your benefit and consider downloading TweetDeck to help you orgainise and enjoy your Twitter subscriptions.

If you do a search in Google you’ll find lots of articles and tutorials about using Twitter and TweetDeck or visit YouTube and do a search for videos on both. I use YouTube to search for videos on anything I’m interested in. Why not tap into other peoples knowledge and expertise.

I hope that this hasn’t’ been too complicated but if it has PLEASE call me and I will talk you through any aspect of using Twitter and TweetDeck.

As I mentioned in previous posts one of the easiest ways to obtain backlinks is by leaving “comments” or “replies” on other peoples blogs or on forums.

I would like to recommend a free piece of software that you can download to your computer that will make the job of finding such websites so much easier. The software is called “Comment Kahuna” and you can find it at http://www.commentkahuna.com

When you reach the Comment Kahuna website you will see this screen:

Simply add your first name and your email address. You will then see this screen:

You can then download the software to your computer.

In part 2 of this post I’ll show you how to use Comment Kahuna to find blogs and websites on which you can add your comments thus creating backlinks back to your site.

Please let me know if you have any difficulty in setting this up.
